QUEENS AND BEES
Delivery (UK Mainland only) – Queen Bees
Barry’s Bees offer a UK mainland only delivery service for queen bees. Our nucleus hives are collection only.
Queen bees are despatched by Royal Mail Special (Next Day) Delivery between Monday and Thursday and during the months of April and September, weather permitting.
The following delivery charges apply for queen bees despatched for delivery between Monday and Friday:
Queen Bees 1 – 5 £7.00
Queen Bees 6 – 25 £7.50
Queen Bees 26 – 50 £9.00
Refunds
Subject to the clause headed “Liability” below, if on the very rare occasion your new queen bee is found dead on arrival, you must call us straight away so the issue can be sorted and a replacement queen sent to you.
You will be required to complete the following actions:
- Take an immediate date/ time photo and send it to us.
- Call us to notify us of the queen bee’s death.
- Confirm a replacement date with us for your new queen to arrive.
- Return the original travel cage with the queen and workers in it.
We cannot replace queen bees that have died as a result of being rejected by the colony of bees on introduction.
If your new queen is to be used in a new or existing colony there will always be an element of risk in introducing her. Please refer to our Guide to Queen Introduction for further assistance if required.
Order Cancellations – Queens
Should circumstances mean that you have to cancel your order for queen bees then the following charges will apply:
Up to 48 hours prior to collection or despatch of the queen bees – full refund less a £10.00 administration fee.
No refunds will be given for orders cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice.
In the unlikely event that Barry’s bees have to cancel your order for bees or queens as much prior notice will be given as possible and a full refund of the purchase costs will be given.
Order Cancellations – Bees
Should circumstances mean that you have to cancel your order for bees then the following charges will apply:
More than 4 weeks prior to the collection date of the bees – No charge.
2-4 weeks prior to the collection date of the bees – Deposit already paid plus 50% of the remaining balance outstanding.
Less than two weeks prior to the collection date of the bees – Deposit already paid plus 75% of the remaining balance outstanding.
COURSE BOOKINGS
Your booking constitutes a legally binding contract. You are liable for payment of all fees due to Barry’s Bees.
Bookings may be made by email, via the Barry’s Bees website, letter or telephone. Telephone bookings must be confirmed in writing no later than 7 days before the course.
Confirmation of your booking will be sent to you and a VAT invoice provided. Any relevant pre-course documentation will be distributed one week before the course date.
Payment
If you book online you will be required to pay in full at the time of booking via Paypal. Payment of all other course fees is due 7 days from the date of invoice or 14 days before the date of the course whichever is the sooner. We reserve the right to require payment in full upon booking.
Until payment is made in full your course booking will remain provisional. If payment is not received by the due date your booking will be cancelled automatically and the course place will be made available to other candidates.
Transfers
Should circumstances mean that you need to transfer to another Barry’s Bees course then the following charges will apply dependent on the amount of notice given:
More than four weeks prior to the course start date – first transfer no charge (otherwise 50%).
2-4 weeks’ notice given – 50% of the course fee.
Less than two weeks’ notice given – 100% of the course fee.
Free transfer applies to the first transfer only where more than four weeks’ notice is given. All other transfers will incur a minimum charge of 50% of the course fee, rising to 100% dependent on notice as shown above. All transfers must be taken within a period of 6 months from the original course date.
Cancellations (Course Bookings)
Should circumstances mean that you have to cancel your course and are unable to transfer your booking to another date at the time of cancellation then the following charges will apply:
More than four weeks prior to the course date – No charge.
2-4 weeks prior to the course date – 50% of the total course fee.
Less than two weeks prior to the course date – Full fee.
Cancellation or transfer must be made in writing and received by Barry’s Bees by the due date.
Non Attendance
If you do not attend a course and have not previously informed us within the timeframes referred to above, the full course fee remains payable and no refunds will be given.
Late Arrivals
If you arrive late for a course or are absent from the course we reserve the right to retain full payment, no rescheduled course will be offered and no refund will be given.
Unforeseen Circumstances
On occasion, unforeseen circumstances may require us to cancel a course. In such circumstances you will be given as much notice as possible and either a free transfer to another course date or a full refund of fees be paid.
Guidelines for Candidates
It is the candidates responsibility to ensure they are free from any conditions, allergies or allergic reactions which would affect their capability to undertake the chosen course and that they have the aptitude to cope with the course of study.
We welcome all candidates. Any candidate with additional needs who may need assistance is asked to Contact Us two weeks before the course date so that we can discuss these and make any reasonable adjustments necessary.

Credit Card Security
Payment details are gathered by Paypal. We do not store or retain any payment card details.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law Barry’s Bees will not be liable by reason of breach of contract or otherwise for any loss or consequential loss incurred by third parties. Consequential loss shall be deemed to include, but is not limited to, any loss of goods, profits or anticipated profits, damages, costs, expenses incurred or amounts payable to any third party or any other indirect or consequential losses.
Specifically in relation to live bees, Barry’s Bees cannot be held responsible for:
- Queen bees that die in transit as a breach of Royal Mail postal conditions and guarantees.
- Queen bees that die as a result of your introduction.
- Bees that have been collected and subsequently die whilst in your care during transit.
We take the welfare of our bees seriously and as such have produced a Guide to Queen Introduction that you must familiarise yourself with.
Testimonials
We reserve the right to use feedback received from candidates and customers on the Barry’s Bees website. Full names will not be used in order to preserve confidentiality but by accepting these terms and conditions you agree to anonymous information being published in this way.
